This is to all the motorbike freaks out there! (Its not a review, but a preview of things to come in the motorbike world of India ;))
Yamaha is all set to launch its new model, Yamaha YZF-R15 in India (where I live ;)) and its all set to rock the Indian motorbike industry. After the launching of Yamaha's new R1 in India, which was the officially launched sports bike in India, now its the turn of YZFR15. This new model has many features that are yet to be seen in bikes currently available in India. Yamaha is aiming this bike at the low-cost market and it will be a huge success too!
Yamaha's new YZF-R15 has a 150cc engine which makes it more useful for the people who don't just want to enjoy the ride and not race with others :P , unlike R1 which is approx Rs 10,00,000 (23255 USD) R15 is aimed at the common man who can't afford bikes like R1 and still want that sporty look in their bikes. Its not official but it will cost around Rs 1,00,000 (2325 USD) which is a whole lot cheaper than R1 itself.
Basically, the sporty look is what will attract the people to it and the price tag being low, you will definitely more R15's than R1's on the road ;)
Here are the features:
- It is India's first Bike with forged pistons .
- It is India's first Bike with a Diasil Cylinder .
- It is India's first Bike with the Deltabox frame.
- And it is India's first Bike with a 6speed gear box .
- The YZFR15 is an all new supersport model with a newly designed 150cc liquid-cooled, 4-stroke, SOHC single-cylinder, 4-valve fuel-injected engine on a Deltabox frame.
- BHP 16 to 20 BHP (not yet confirmed)
- Top speed 140kmph
- Full body Aero Dynamic Fairing.
- With six-hole type injector. ECU and sensors backed fuel mixture to maximize the combustion at any rpm.
- Liquid cooling with high efficient compact Radiator to maximize the Stability and Performance.
- Flash surface dual Head Lights.
- High Rigidity Deltabox Frame.
- Link Type Monocross.
- Front and Rear Disk Brake.
- 4 Valve Combustion Chamber Adopted.
- Hemispherical Combustion Chamber with centered plug layout.
Hopefully it will be a milestone in the Indian motorbike industry and other manufacturers would definitely like to keep an eye out for this one ;)

EDIT:
OK, so some 'smart' people wanted me to give more credit to the author at http://yzfr15.blogspot.com/ (Which I did before in the original post). So I moved the credit to the top of the post. And by the way, watch this post for more info, I'll be adding some new stuff about YZF-R15 soon...
